We all are familiar to Photoshop at present as it plays a great role to give any kind of changes to a photo easily.Brush tool is one of my favorite features of Adobe Photoshop. In this micro tutorial I am going to describe about it.
Open Brush palette (Window menu – Brushes) to learn all features. Then change each setting and try the result when you draw a stroke. At first set the Tip shape. Now it’s your choice to from pre-loaded shapes or you can create your own.
Brush Tip Shape has one interesting setting that is Spacing. Generally it is around 20-25% but when you set it larger than 100-150% you will see very different result for sure.
If you want to randomize sizes and angles of brush dots then you have to use Shape Dynamics checkbox.
If you want to randomize locations of brush dots then use scattering - as you draw a straight stroke, dots are added randomly around your mouse.
Using Count setting you can control amounts of dots.
One of the most interesting feature is Dual brush by using which you will be able to see different results depending upon the mode and brush you have selected. Now have look on the screenshot:first line made with simple brush, second – with Dual Brush enabled.
You can use Color Dynamics to randomize (or fade, or control with tablet pen) brush color.
Another feature is Wet edges. It is too is simple and self-explanatory.
If you are worry about creating your own box then you need not to worry about. You can do it easily.Let take a star brush for example.First of all image with transparent background (square for our star). Then set foreground color to Black, switch to Shape tool (U), select Polygon tool on toolbar, open Polygon options, check Star checkbox, set Indent sides = around 90%, and sides = 4.
Now draw a shape, rasterize it (Layer – Rasterize – Shape). Select all (Ctrl-A).
Now click on edit menu, define brush preset.Choose name for new brush, click OK.
Now you will able to see your new brush in Brush Tip Shape list when you open Brushes palette window (from Window menu).
If you want to enable and adjust Size Jitter, Scattering and Color Jitter, you can and with single mouse move, get result like this,
Let’s have a look on another example in which I created brush preset by taking the shape of snow flake. With Size Jitter, Scattering and Color Jitter, following is the result that is single brush stroke looks like.
Here is another example that is heart shaped brush which is possible by only one Brush move.
