Sometimes you just find that a lot of files in windows 7 are not owned by you, even if you are the Administrator.Have you ever experienced? They are instead owned by an entity called the “Trusted Installer”.At the same time if you want to make any changes like Delete, move or any other changes to those files you can’t.You will  get message like “You require permission from Trustedinstaller to make changes to this file or You do not have permission to perform this action ” rather than delete it.

So before deleting or renaming or editing those files you have to be the owner of those files which are  owned by Trustedinstaller. Then grant yourself full control permissions and rights.

Here in this article I am going to tell you how to be the owner of the files that are owned by Trustedinstaller and make any changes like delete, edit or rename step by step.Let’s start…

Step-1:First, go to the folder or set of files that you need to change permissions for, right-click on them and choose Properties.

Step-2:Now click on “Security “tab and then on “Advanced” button.

Step-3:Now click on the “Owner” tab and you will come to see that the current owner is TrustedInstaller.

Step-4:Next Click on the “Edit” button.

Step-5:Now choose who you would like to change the owner to, either your account or the Administrators.I would suggest you ti choose just Administrator. If you want to delete more than one file in a folder then all you have to check off Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.

Step-6:Click “OK” and you will notice that  the Current owner is the account you choosed.Again right-click on the folder or file again and select Properties again.

Step-7:Next click on the Security tab again, and click the “Edit” button.

Step-8:Now click on the user name in the list that you want to change the permissions for, remember that should be the same as who you changed the current owner too. If the user name is not in the list, click Add, type in the name and click OK.

Step-9:Next click “OK“, now you have deleted protected by Windows 7 Trusted Installers. Now you are fully done. Now you can delete the file you want to or make any changes to.
